Fertilizing / Crops purity

Humus purity used to prep has no effect whatsoever on the purity of your resulting crops.

I haven't verified it yet. My motto is do not trust, and verify.

Everyone, and new players will learn this. . .do not trust and verify. The wiki is incomplete, and many responses can be considered elusive.

So many are verifying for themselves right now, which is the right thing to do.

We shall report back.

My experience as a newb farmer
Started with 16% seeds i "borrowed" from an abandoned claim i found and got up to 19% in a few harvests, then...
Planting 19% seeds, some fields drop to 18%, one field went to 22% (yay!)
Made all 22% into seeds, sown fields with them and stuck the rest in a container in case they all drop next harvest.
All of this with 0% purity humus.
It's just random, but when you experiment and the fields you did with purity by chance rise, it must be working.
It's like the pigeon experiment, food drops in a bowl random but a few times the pigeon looks to the right when it does and now he keeps doing it to "force" food to fall into the bowl. (real experiment, look it up)

On a same note, for what would you use purity hay?

Try taking some of those 22% seeds and using them in an unaltered compost bin. Do not mix them with anything else. Wait for that humus to produce then prepare your field with that humus and see the results. Compare your results with your 0 purity humus.

You cannot trust the wiki 100% of course it is a nice reference but there is a few incorrect and incomplete articles on it.

I posted results of my first few tests. And yes, its somewhat hard to post pictures or even video for that matter as it would just be shot down by someone saying it was faked.

Field Alchemy: The humus used to prepare fields for planting -- i.e. not fertilizers applied after planting -- now modify the purity of the crop produced. It is worth noting that the way seeds and humus modify each other is harshly biased against alchemy compositions wildly differing in purity. Seeds and humus more similar in elements will coexist much better. If you plant very pure seeds in very unpure soil, expect very unpure results.

I guess TheMapp was retroactively right. Field-Humus will now affect crop purity according to the devs.

+1 for being on the ball. I didn't want to believe it myself. What really kicks it the nuts is the fact that compost bins now have purity that factor into the quality of the humus you get.
