Make rubies and diamonds and such extremely rare to hinder everyone from praning around wih diamond slotted gear.

Well my suggestion would be to keep the rough inspirational values, but replace the (in RL) extremely rare gemstones with more common stones.
1% chance to get one of those when chipping rocks sounds abit high, and I think something more exciting could be done with them as well (polishing, fitting them in neccklaces , collecting them in full sets, etc.)
Most of all, I want blander gems, though.

but at the same time there is already so much crafting and skills, and the devs seem to be working more on game mechanics then crafting recipes.
