I should note that this is certain ATI drivers. Not all ATI/AMD cards are having this issue.

Well, I have the same problem, the launcher says downloading, then verifying, then back to downloading, and after several hours of no noticable progress beyond about 80 percent it give a failed message. I've read the comments here, I spent the better part of the night correcting Java versions, getting the 64 bit, cleaning out cach and all that, uninstalling the 32 bit version, and it still does the exact same thing. I tried the Ender's installer too, and it downloaded, then gave a 'Haven' error. I was looking forward to trying out this game, but how stable can it be if the launcher is giving so many people (yeah, i've read the posts on facebook too) so much trouble just to try to get the game started!!

I do have a list started, but I doubt yours is on it as not too many people are reporting problems and their graphics card. Feel free to check: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=96

I am thinking maybe the Radeon ones are not compatible.

Because this is mine:
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics - not on list yet.

It's not a general ATI/AMD issue, it's an issue with specific cards and OpenGL compatibility. Despite everyone being able to download one installer from ATI and nVidia, each card model has it's own drivers.

Often times, even though the only difference between your card and you're friends is the amount of VRAM, it can mean a separate driver to run the cards, even if there's only a couple of lines of code difference. When it comes time to update a bug on these two drivers (as they share all the other code), if one of those lines of code was involved with it on the second card and doesn't get updated, then that card is now useless until the programmers realized they missed something and fix it.

I do believe that particular card was one of the ones in my search for information. (Believe I ran across 4650 and 5650,maybe another card or two along the way.) I'd have to double check, though.

Some people can't run JNLPs, do a search on the java bug report forums and you will find that this is an existing problem for as long as anybody can remember. The jnlp appears to hang because of verification issues and ****. Look it up.
