If this topic is for trolling ideas, change its name.. Most of the people who writes here are trying to maybe help salem to get at a better point.. His idea may suck but instead of discouraging try doing something for the game.. stop this troll.. you are probably having fun with being troll but this wont improve anything..

No one is trolling this terrible idea.

Maybe if people would read what devs post and watch the livestreams they would have some sort of idea on how the devs think

Well, if it's beta I have np with regular wipes, wipe away! But I see this being a problem due to it's commercial implementations during this 'testing' phase.

Besides farming ( that is broken anyways ) there isn't really a reason to keep you playing past a week. Anything the game currently allows you to do, you can do in that timeframe. Except of course build insanely retarded biled characters that again stem from a broken mechanic.

I only know of a few commercial games that reset regularly. It's a global competition with an eventual "winner." This is an RPG. There is no winners or losers, there is not ultimate end goal. It's just a sandbox to play in. Powers will come and go just like the ebb and flow of empires over time. Why does Salem need regular resets? If you're constantly at the bottom of the food chain, it's not the fault of the game. If you can't be at the top, look inward and understand why. Only then will you be able to rise to the top or quit worrying about it.

But this is beta, changes are not final. Looking forward to the alchemy update

Lol.. That's fine you think the idea is terrible, but I just find your explanation humorous. So the only people who should be suggesting ideas should be ones who have conditioned themselves to think like the devs, by studying their posts and watching their livestreams?

I feel like the older the server is the more boring and tedious it becomes - finding signs of habitation just about everywhere you go and everyone running around with 300+ humors and all seeds near max purity.

I would love to see a server which regularly gets wiped, say every 6 months perhaps? Time period up in the air but as long as there is a fixed time period of some sort.

Could even have a final report on wipe where all the inhabitants are ranked by stats such as hours played, humors achieved, proficiencies achieved, amount of land claimed, etc... for bragging rights :)

Then next day we all (the population of just this server I mean) start over again :)

I really like this, especially about the ranking system, it would be very interesting, at least one server like this is worth trying :D

As a former Diablo 2 player, I "sort of" like this idea. There are advantages as well as disadvantages to look at.

First off, if they make a server that's going to be wiped regularly, than it should have some sort of exclusive content that the non-wiping servers don't have. (purity over 100%, special artifacts, or a new kind of crop perhaps, the possibilities are endless, as long as it's exclusive that makes people want to play on a ladder server).

Second, there would be a lot of commotion between the two types of servers. "ololol you play non-ladder go back to mommy" and such would become quite prevalent.

Third, wiping an entire server takes a lot of time and resources from the dev site.
" If a beam taketh six nails to place, then six shalt it be. If thou useth five, then be thou a cheap and careless fool. If thou useth seven, then be thou a wastrel with no pride. "

I thought to wipe they just need to pull the plug on it, then let the map generator create another map?
