Is the point of the game to....

Postby waico » Tue Mar 26, 2013 8:53 pm

What is the point of the game? PvP?

Pretty much everyone I have come across, with the exception of one person who claimed they started playing 20 minutes before we met, has attacked me.

Are we suppose to just run around attacking everyone we meet?

I spent like 3 hours travelling today, saw someone in the forest, said Hi, they said Hi, then 2 minutes later their alt comes up and wacks me.
This happen right outside their walled in area.

So, should I just mark it on the map, and start raiding their home?

Just curious if this is like the whole point of the game?

I lost several hides, brains, bunch of stuff. Seems kinda pointless, if this is like the whole point of the game.

Crying on the forums, raging, drama, completely losing the stuff that took you 50 hours to build, losing your main char, whining, being too used to linear gameplay.

this game is what you want it to be.. but PVP and a bit of paranoia is a big part of it.

you have those people who enjoy logging on to take care of their crops, baking and building their place in the world.
you have others who seek out anyone they can to kill them
you have factions who war with one another
you have factions who will keep you safe for a price
you have towns who accept members, and then you have greifers who join just to cause death
you can live as a hermit
you can join a group
you can trade goods in town and get lots of silver
you can map out the world
you can climb mountains
its all about what you want to do

i would imagine there is a large % of people who have been attacked and of those people, a large % of them have died.
When i first started i was told.. you will die, so plan accordingly.. i was told to read sevenless guide (thank you)

I was attacked once, luckily they missed and i managed to log out, but the adrenaline kicked in and i logged on to check out the area with an alt. Was exciting.. even though i could not find the culprit.
I havent played for too long, but if i were to die, WOW things will be a lot easier the next time, gluttony is now figured out, spamming 6 chestnuts in a row and wondering.. why is my learning % at 0... is figured out..

just have fun with it and when its not fun do something else

Yeah, ok, thanks. This pretty much clears it up for me.

The sole point of the game is cheap PvP. And the PvP is incredibly imbalanced by the Sale of in-game Money, Items, Weapons for IRL Cash...

this decision boggles the mind.

The sole focus of the game, is facilitated through Win Buttons sold in a Cash Shop?

They sell MASSIVE Amounts of Silver for IRL Cash... Weapons, Items, all kinds of crap. Amazing.

It doesnt take long to realize how much your gameplay can be offset by a steady flow of Silver. For sale in MASSIVE amounts at a Cash Shop...... weird.

The devs made a decision to deliberately make the game this way. Like, sat down, and thought it out, and decided, "Yeah, lets create a Sandbox, but then sell Silver and Weapons and Items for IRL Cash... "

Its sad to see all these potential Sandbox's get suckered into cheap Cash Shop insta Win PvP festivals.

When will they learn....

There is nothing in the cash shop you can't create in the game, except for some clothes. All the weapons are the same in game except they look different, but act no differently. So what, people can buy stuff and get ahead. It only saves them time and effort, but gives them no advantage over anyone else.

i think he made up his mind guys, even if its not quite true with the IWIN silver sale and all, but hey i guess that could be the game for him, shouting on the forums for changes.

but try to spend a few hours watching some videos and read some guides and then you can say what you want and maybe, just maybe you will see that the silver, is nice to have, it makes starting easier but its not the end all be all core of the game.

btw. havnt bought any silver from the shop (didnt really need it) only some clothes and those dont give you an edge.
yea who needs "secure" trading, its not like this game would benefit from it, lets just kill the newbs instead as long as that's fun and people still join the game.

As stalls are in Plymouth nowadays, buying silver is kind of a "I win button", but just to a limited degree.

5000 silver is not a lot, and it definitely isn't worth $100.

the point of the game is doing what you want, be it increasing your power through wealth or combat or both, living in the middle of nowhere and farmvilleing, making a town with friends and so on. like any game you get out of it what you put into it, no there are no cartoon characters with yellow punctuation marks above their heads to tell you what to do.
