To explain: Online is obvious; Multiplayer is obvious; Massively, however, isn't so obvious. However, understand that everyone plays on the same server and can interact with each other at will. You might have to do some walking first. In theory, one could get a thousand man battle over a town. I don't think the servers could handle that. Can you get into a thousand man battle in WoW? Not even on the busiest servers will you see that many in one place. This is what makes the game "Massively" multiplayer. There are no limits to the number of players other than server stability.
