House Door Locks?

I just built my first house, a nice little French Chatteau near the water.
The first thing I did after hammering down the last nail is build a lock and key....

But the lock isnt working on the door!>!>!?!?

Am i missing somethign here? Locks dont work on House doors?
Are they already locked and only I can enter?

Currently house doors do not lock. Build yourself a fence with gate.

Yeah pretty things usually get destroyed sooner or later, one way or another, so don't go berserk on the bells and whistles.

Locks don't work on houses because lockpicking hasn't been implemented yet.
