Smelter bug? Everything went poof inside...

I have 2 smelters within a walled area new gates which are locked only I have the key.

I just filled up both smelters and lighting them before going for a walk in the park.

I come back now and I check and one smelter is completely empty - no material, no fuel, no dross - nothing! The other is as normal with dross and 2 bars.... what could have happened?

You forgot to put ore/lime in the empty one before filling with coal and lighting.

Hmm. I suppose its possible I forgot an ingredient... so that means that whole cycle was for nothing?

Lime leaves nothing behind, so it's likely you forgot the Ore. Either that or you have an infestation of Gremlins who have a hankering for dross.

Personally I have never experienced it despite the many hundreds of smelter runs I made but I have read that on some rare occasions the contents of the smelter can disappear. I believe it was clouddog that reported it.
