Is summoning someone via a scent s'posed to auto-murder them

A friend of mine summoned my other friend's main while he was offline and sitting next to him (irl) as a joke
only it summoned him dead.
Is that working as intended?

(the friend who summoned him did not have murder)

Yes, if you summon someone without homestead it will automatically kill him.
It's to prevent people using summoning mechanic as teleportation

The lesson learned here: Don't use a game feature without reading up on it. It IS here on the forums if not well published throughout Help! or on the wiki. The difficulty is finding such information due to the number of posts that are about being summoned, summoning others, etc.

Actually, if you restrict your search to the Announcements thread and only poster to jorb, it's on the first (only) page.

He was our artifice character, as well

he is taking a break from the game till we farm him a new character. ( we hope that will entice him back. He is the dude that got us in to the game in the first place)
Lessons learned all around!
Us: be more careful (in general. there are several specific things we took from it, but they all can be covered by being more careful.)
Him: don't log out without a claim while your ass-hat friends have your scent. (or anyone for that matter... Just don't log out without a claim.)


We are happy to announce we popped his getting murdered cherry. It was bound to happen eventually why not your bros rite rite (but seriously we are sorry we murdered him.)
