Im not sure if its even possible, but what happens if you have a leanto as your homestead and someone place a stake claim next to it and covers it with their claim?

Leantos that are on someone's p claim can be broken by the p claim owner for no scents on their part.
If you enjoy your location, p claim your leanto

So if you find a leanto somewhere, then drop a stake claim next to it and cover it with your claim you can take what was stuffed in their leanto and destroy it. What happens to the person who used it as a homestead? They log back in at town?

They log back in where they logged out at.

So if they logged out in Boston then ya they're screwed.

That's why you should destroy leanto's of those pesky alts that use your stump farms.

If you were logged out at your leanto and the leanto is gone you'll be sent to boston because you can't log out on a claim

On something of a larger scale, there is a medium sized claim a few clicks north of where I have pretty much been living off the land. I've been watching it, and I am positive it has been abandoned. I assume the guy either got tired of playing the game or he got whacked and wasn't up to starting over.

Nothing is protected, I can walk anywhere I want. Is it possible to destroy his marker, stake my own claim, and then buy the land that the claim is on? And if so, do I have to destroy my current homestead? You can't have more than one?

I just did this, works great. You get everything you stretch your claim on. You can only have one homestead but you wont lose your old one, just you will have to walk there if you wnt to go to it. Can only teleport to currently active homestead
