Lighting in the Mines

Postby Hans_Lemurson » Tue Mar 19, 2013 1:53 pm

Is there any way to get some sort of lasting source of illumination in a mine? Preferably something better than a quick-burning pile of wood or a torch you can't hold while mining.

a fireplace lasts longer than a pile of wood.
Ever tried a meatsmoker? Although I doubt it gives light.
Just crank that brightness setting up :)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Don't you need a house in order to build a fireplace? They shouldn't work in a mine.

that would be a stove. There is also the option of building a fireplace with some stones, which will hold a longer lasting fire and can be refilled.
They were basically the precursor of the current stove+meatsmoker, but now I don't believe they're used for anything those two can't do.

Burning milkweed roots. Or can those be burnt in a meatsmoker? I've tried the stove and that does not work.

It would still be cool to put some longer lasting torches up against mine walls (or mine supports).
