Trapped Chests

Postby eksu » Sat Mar 16, 2013 1:13 pm

I got the idea for this from Morrowind.

It would be cool if you could craft a new type of lock, a "Trapped-Lock" or something, that you can use on chests. Having a Chest equipped with this would not keep it from being opened, however, if you try to open it without using the key it will spring damage to you based off the purity of the iron used to make it or something.

There would be no indication if a chest was trapped or not, so each chest would be a gamble.
Someone should teach me how to play this game.

Would just result in people breaking chests without checking that they were locked.

I'd be more than okay with this.

trap should go off when chest is broken same as UO traps did.

and people owning newbs in boston should hardly be a consideration, newbs have to learn sometime.

Most don't bother to read updates so they have to learn somehow. ¦]

Like this idea.

Let me clarify what I meant. I love the idea and don't think the excuse about noobs hurting themselves with these should stop us from having them.

yeah it is not exactly the end of the world if a newb gets knocked out in boston because he opened a chest lol, in fact it is probably a good thing for him as it might keep him from doing so on a claim.

poison trap:
- 5 thorns, 1 etterfang, 1 iron bar -> puts a "poisoned" debuff upon trying to open/lift/destroy the chest

spike trap:
- 2 iron bars -> deals 5-10 red bile dmg (10 times) while trying to open/lift/destroy the chest

handcuff-trap:
- 4 iron bars -> cuffs you to the chest (when trying to open/lift the chest): you cannot move unless you carry the chest, destroying the chest is half as effective (one hand not usable) as normally, another player has to uncuff you / destroy the trap to free you.

extra-weights:
- 10 iron bars -> when trying to lift the chest, a progress meter starts counting up, draining 5 phlegm per sec (20 secs) because of the increased weight of the chest
In feudalism, it's your count that votes...
