Could be no decay on rails, only destruction and destruction would be very very difficult. Then you keep your handcarts at home until you need them and they would take two people to carry them as well as two to use them on the rails. That way, rails could be used to get around the map like rivers in H&H. Can add to other people's rails etc.

Canal networks are more in line with what was used and built in New England at the time.

So we can have both. Rails on both outer and mine layers with handcarts and/or mine carts. Love this idea.

Don't quote me as it's been a while since I read up it, but I believe mining carts were already on rails by the 17th-18th century, which is why I mention it. As far as railroads... well, those didn't first show up until... 1810s? (Should have paid attention to the history a bit more when I played all those railroad sim games. Steam rail engine was several years earlier, of course.)

Not everything in this game is accurately correct, so I don't see why it matters really.

"accurately correct"...lolz

And it does matter. If the devs decided to put in robots or dinosaurs, it would hamper the game's enjoyability significantly (for me, at least), since immersion would be lost.

I dont like the idea. I would still just use Boston to transfer 1000s of lime at any given time, it would probably still be more efficient than you railway system.

We aren't talking robots or dinos, we are talking something that came just a tad bit later. So if they put domestic pigs in the game, you won't be happy? Come on, we don't have to be perfect, just close.

In that case, nuclear bombs were only a couple hundred years away. We should be allowed to have those.

But we had nukes for a few days. They were called "stone hedge" and "split-rail fence"
