How to Determine Purity of a Mine

Postby qbradq » Mon Mar 18, 2013 12:12 pm

Is the only way to determine the purity of a mine node to build a mine there and dig up a rock?

Thanks.

If you use multiple rods to check the node then you can have more precise expectations.

For example, if you can detect specific node with 2 rods: one with 50 mercury compent and the other with 65 mercury then you can expect that the node will have mercury compnent between 55 and 60.

And if you can detect the node with the 65 rod, but not with 50 one then there's a good chance the mine will have more than 60 mercury. But in this case it's only a chance.

So, the more rods you have to test the better your guesses will be

I'd like to piggy back on this thread.

I created a mine somewhat recently. I was (am) basically simply after iron, no matter the quality. However, now that I have a mine, what is considered decent purity? I probably didn't get that lucky with a Woowoo Wand, but I'd still like to know.

I got 13% purity on my first try, but I think I got really lucky. Abandoned mines I've seen while wandering so far seem to be in the 7-is range. That's all I know.

As for the purity of your mine it depends on if you want to make Lover's Lockets. If so the higher the better really. Can't go wrong with more skill gain for the same amount of work and fuel.

I must have been very lucky with my woo woo wands as my first mine was 24%. of course now that I made 24% rods I can't find a mine within an hour of my camp!

ore purity currently serves no purpose other then to make higher purity lockets and making a better dowsing rod.

so if you are after high purity the best mine is 100%. anything between 20-50 id say is a fair avg type mine, but if you want just iron for tools/nails/ect then a basic 0% mine is perfect.

assuming you arent interested in a 100% pure rod or massing lover lockets you really dont need to go above 0%. though that might change later on when they overhaul mining.

Does the purity of iron affect the iron-based lures and hence catch higher purity fish? :)

I know, wishful thinking......
