Shed placement

Postby Scilly_guy » Sat Mar 16, 2013 10:32 pm

I know some things are annoying pedantic about where their construction sign is placed, obviously I understand why somethings need flat terrain, and even why pavement is required. But what would be really really helpful is if the devs could make it so that the ghost will go green when placing a building, and putting objects down.

So with sheds what are the requirements? I have a 3x3 flat area but it won't let me place it there, but it did let me place it on another 3x3 flat area. (neither were paved)

I always have to pave to place a shed. However it could *probably* go on muddy flat terrain.

Haven't built a shed in a while though I find it to be more economical to make cupboards lol

The reason I thought a shed might be worth it was to reduce going through a doorway which often seems to cause crashes for me. I would agree that cupboards are far easier to make, its funny, to me the shed has added value from the game crashing.

I have a sign that is not paved so it doesn't need paving.

Are you trying to build it on forest terrain? Even if it's flat, most structures can't be built on it, so you'd just have to dig a tile and drop it back to change the terrain to dug ground. Sheds don't need paving to be built.

Build a boat.

Build a cupboard.

Bring boat into house.

Empty Cupboard.

Lift Cupboard and drop into boat.

Magic.

Carry boat outside to where you wanted your shed.

Retrieve cupboard.

You can also destroy a house and get the cupboard

I once had a cupboard that I found in the middle of an empty forest.

Perhaps that is what is going on with the other sign I placed, yep, just the central tile appears to be dug ground... these are silly rules.
