Darkness Creatures

Tired of finding my stuff stolen every time I log in, I set off deep into the wilderness, into the darkness to find a place to live. After hours of pointless wandering I came across some Jub Jub Birds or something, and they slaughtered me.

So my character has been laying face down for about 45 minutes now while something off screen pelts him with sticks. My guy won't get up, won't die, and... what now?

I don't think anyone's come up with a good solution for this. The only way I know of is someone has to come to your rescue and chop down the tree and kill it. When Eegore got koed by one of them, his friend had to chop down many trees because it wouldn't deagro, it's all on video. Hopefully the mods will change these things to despawn if they sit in a tree for more than a half hour or something like that. Otherwise, you might be waiting for the next server restart, which at least is happening every week now and will happen again in 6 days.

You've got to be kidding me! That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

It's a brand new creature in a beta game. Yes, there are things that are stupid, but no one has said it won't be changed.

Those kinds of logical inconsistencies are the type of thing you find in an alpha, not a beta.

You're right, since they are still adding content, it should be in alpha. But for some reason, they like to call this beta. Go figure. Games like this don't seem to follow the same rules other products do since testing and development are going in tandem rather than development first, testing after.

You can complain about it in the announcement that it was introduced in, you won't be the only one. You can PM the devs. You can bug report it. If that happens enough, they'll probably change it. Or they might just want darkness to be very dangerous and keep it this way (personally, I think the way it is is stupid).

This has nothing to do with the definition of phases of testing. If we went by that definition, every MMO in existence would still be classified as alpha-grade software.

Shouldn't even take this long, but given the way log out mechanics work, I'm not sure the map would unload like normal with a disconnected character that was still engaged in combat and being held in the world.

i can confirm logging out and waiting for a really long time will eventually send you back home.

After they knock you out, they slowly keep pecking away at your other biles at a rate of ~0.3 biles per minute.

So i patiently waited until all my biles got knocked down to zero thinking surely after hours of pecking away all the biles you 'd get sent home.

not the case.... they keep at it, well past the point of it being funny.... :evil:
