Well, best of luck on that if you have a group you are going to try to set this up with. I'd love to see something actually happening in Jamestown. But I have the feeling it's not going to work, because you don't seem to understand human nature or the way this game works. :(

For example, if your republic somehow works out for you, you still have the problem of people not being able to leave though you think they should be able to. You say you want to add a sort of second wing called an 'alliance' that I assume has no obligations or else what would be the point of leaving? However, if there are no obligations but they get the benefit of not being raided by you then the whole server will join the alliance and proceed to ignore you completely.

The alliance (alliance isn't the right word to desribe it tho) is only for former republic members who left the republic in a good way. (For example, a traitor won't have this option and he can be raided without consequences for members of the republic)

But as i said before, it isn't a fully finished idea. Don't worry, i'm busy with it and ill probably post in tomorrow.

Thinking with you here. In case quite a few people join.

What about a citadel construction.

Leaders or potential ones (longest/most experienced members) live in the middle, lets say the town claim.
Around that there are claims of the civilian class, forming a large square around the city.

With enough people it would be difficult to succesfully raid the city.

The inner city concerns itself with the millitairy and protection and defense.
The outer city provides supplies, food, weapons etc (like a form of tax for protection).

If strong and big enough it doesnt matter people know where it is.
People can come and trade and if someone gets murdered retribution can be enforced.

Some people like the combat aspect of the game. Focussing on a beefy fighter, where others like to craft and dont want to be concerned with combat.

The center/citadel can have a main leader and under him/her ministers of crafts. One that makes sure enough food is produced etc.

If someone wants to leave they can. If someone wants to join they must settle in the outer ring and are not allowed in the inner ring etc. Done by claim permissions.

Can go on for hours on structure design and dream away on the perfect defense and settlement.

Issues can be solved the same way they used to do it during that time. A duel! Depending on both parties, either until knockout or death. I mean, the game has pistols now :).

it's a thoughtful idea but it's never going to function.

I don't know how long you've been playing for but finding active peers is a rare thing, let alone enough to form an actual faction. You'll get a lot of interest from new players but I fear that you'll only ever seen them once thereafter.

This makes literally no sense politically, or even in terms of the game mechanics.

Won't have to be worrying about the "Federal Republic of Khodemia" ever.

To back this up, you the OP need to have muscle. Either yourself or close IRL friends. You need to be able to kill people who "misbehave" in your "republic".
You can not rely on the good will of men. It does not exist.
You also need some kind of financing to be able to keep up claims and laying siege to others. You can do this in several ways:
Raiding: You need muscle
Taxes: You need msucle
Trade: Can be combined with the two things above and does not need muscle in itself, takes time and is not a sure fire way as taxes could be

Maybe a trade republic then?

Sure I would love to make you some flags.

If you would like to have this organization pay the Treaty I provide you with this. A flag that inspires Justice and tranquility throughout your lands.

If you choose not to pay the Treaty you should wave this one. A flag that represents the future of your fine republic.

Thanks, you are one of the only people who can actually post something usefull. The reason i made this topic was to look for ideas and people that would like to help, so i'd say my goals are already achieved (since i also received some pretty usefull pm's). A trade republic (merchant republic) is a good idea, and i will discuss the laws and ideas regarding the controll of trade and how to make money from it. I will discuss those ideas with the people that are interested in joining the republic when it is finished. I don't know if it is a good idea to continue this topic untill the republic has been made, since it is outdated and the goals i had in mind are achieved.
I will also talk to the people that are interested in the project about the government. As i heard from a lot of people now, it may be smart to increase the power of the consul. ;)
