Build his camp...

Postby Muiron » Thu Mar 07, 2013 11:52 am

Hello everyone,
I have some questions about his first camp. First, the most important for me: the terraforming. How? I use a mod to help me, but even with it, I can't do because it tires me very quickly and it's long and painful. I don't know if there are some astuces, but if not, I don't understand how you can do because me, I don't want to spend all my times on that. Then, cut wood. It is also long but less tiring. I use a wooden axe because I don't have blacksmithing, because I don't have house, because I don't have fields, because I don't have fences, because I don't have a flat ground, do you understand the problem? So, I feel wasting my time, and I'm not talking about removing the trunks...
So can you help me?

Leveling is long, tiresome and in fact very time consuming, get a metal showel to speed things up, you may consider artificing some dig+ things in your inventory to add some speed to digging, adn to flat land i propose using Enders CTRL+L tool its WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY easier with it.

Edit: ehhh my memory is so bad

ender's has a ctrl+F tool? must check it out, I only knew about ctrl+L

Anyways: making a wooden shovel (requires "whittling") or a metal shovel (requires "blacksmithing", i think) will speed up this process drastically. If you can spare the milkweed fibres/cotton, you should think about creating tons of "enforced seams" (an artifact for slotting into clothing), and put them into your clothing.

For reference: enforced seams give +10 to digging, whereas a metal shovel gives +90 (and a wooden one +40, i believe)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Here's my advice (starting with the simplest solutions):
-Fields don't require flat ground. Plant crops anywhwere!
-The "Makeshift Fence" can be made out of just sticks.
-Make sure you use a shovel when digging! Without one you dig at 2% progress per time unit. With a wooden shovel, you dig at 10%. 5x faster and 5x less phlegm. With a wooden shovel it takes about 0.5 phlegm per unit of dirt.
-More Phlegm is better. Raise your humours with gluttony to increase your phlegm capacity. Destroying objects like stumps is more effective the more phlegm you have (since you have to overcome their basic damage resistance). Effectiveness is based on your current phlegm level, not what your total capacity is. Most activities though just have a constant phlegm cost when performing them.
-Some things in this game just take time. Chopping down a tree with a Stone Axe takes ~5 minutes. This is annoying, so I just go read something (possibly bad game design). A Metal Axe reduces this to 2.5 minutes
-Artifacts can be added to your clothing to increase your chopping rate, or your digging rate (as well as combat stats). 2 milkweed jute can give you an "enforced seam". Each seam boosts your progress-per-dig by +2%.

labouring still reduces phlegm cost i think http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Labouring

that really helps alot to, get that and a metal shovel and diggin isnt that bad.
yea who needs "secure" trading, its not like this game would benefit from it, lets just kill the newbs instead as long as that's fun and people still join the game.

Yeah I just got Labouring last night. Significant, noticeable phlegm-usage reduction.
The sweat and blood shed by its people had established a strong foundation upon which the most powerful entity in the world would be built.
