There was no "revised" version of Black Lotus. You must be thinking of something else.

Whatever....

Back to the topic again, looks like I might actually have some "stable employment" finally and have some disposable income. If an old vet were to want to get back into the game, how much of his or her pre-2000 collection would still be useful and which is the better way to get back into the game: online or live? And have the rules changed much since the "major rewrite" in 1998?

Depends on what you like to do really. I like playing online just for the wide area for different competition and because I haven't taken the time to see where to play in the area.

Pauper is fairly "cheap" depending on your deck.

Online is were its at. Card prices are lower and you literally can build a "decent" not tourny deck for less then 5 dollars (got a nice WW standard deck for less then 6). Basically your old stuff would now be classic which is basically the lands of the most OP cards that were ever in the game. Nice thing about online is the tourny's give DCI standing.

ya exactly. there is alot more opportunity online. standard will still run you alot online but you can get alot more play from it. If someone is good enough to "go infinite" then you are set for standard, drafts or w.e you want to play.

I'm half tempted to get a storm deck since i'm sick of those assholes raping me when they get all their **** off.

I don't play cards casually unless it's some "odd rules" game like archmage, 120 card min decks, etc. This is why I'm so hesitant to get back into the game.

I didn't realize prices were so much lower online. Maybe I can make a few extra bucks running a digital shop. I've seen them before, but never have looked to see what's required to run one.

Ya digital shops could def work. People do that all the time. You can't really cash out with wizards but you can sell the tickets on paypal.

Also on the money thing when you collect a set online you can pay 5$ and turn it into paper cards then sell them but you need a set of 4 first.
