NEW: Exploit Trapped In Homestead - Please Release

Postby Cik » Thu Feb 21, 2013 3:44 am

I'd like to be released from my homestead and at least be able to port to Boston. Myself and a bunch of buds are into the game, invested real money to contribute to the development of this game, and enjoy it. However, we should not be stonewalled into our leanto's, our Homesteads, without being able to port to Boston.

We didnt place that stone; some exploiter did, and that is fine. We just dont want to be the victims of this blatant exploit. Otherwise, it's essentially game-over, which is sad. I have no intention on assuming that this is an intentional development game-play tactic; someone throwing a stone down in the middle of a group of leanto's of folks that are ramping up and locking them in from doing anything, except from wiping their characters and losing everything. See pic of a couple of us logged in and trapped, and the others haven't even logged in yet.

Re: NEW: Exploit Trapped In Claim-Please Release

This is why land ownership is essential. For all intents and purposes you're the ones infringing on their rights to ownership despite the fact that you were the ones that worked the land and built your homes there. It is a tragedy but you should be able to port back to Boston if you've been KO'd on a claim after 24(?) hours I think.

From the looks of it you can't escape the wall so you're otherwise trapped there. I'd strongly suggest investing in a homestead writ once you've made it back to Boston. You've my sympathy and best wishes.

Edit: Question: How did they get into your home to drop the stone in the first place? Did you just let them in?

Let's be clear. The leanto's are our homesteads. We didnt infringe on someone elses land. We we working this land with the house, farm and leanto's. The leantos are our homestead. No one else was around.

We log in one day and find this.

This is an exploit, with not being able to port back to boston.

Crystal clear but they claimed the land first so they rightfully own it. It is a harsh truth but those that work the land don't own it until they have a piece of paper that says otherwise. I'm unsure of an elegant solution to this sort of thing happening but the simplest solution is to just own the land that you wish to live on.

The perpetrator obviously wanted to grief you so they're unlikely to release you home prematurely. You'll just have to be KO'd and port back to Boston or ask players to help you. Usually we fall back to neighbors and friends for this sort of thing but I don't know that you've established any just yet.

I understand the concerns over this issue and I apologize for saying this but this is the Help! forum and so we should try to avoid complex discussions of in-game mechanics. If we want to discuss it further in-depth I can move some of the posts over to Bugs or InI, or someone can start a thread there. It is a issue that is understandably frustrating.

As discussion on this topic has wildly veered from a Help! question, I've split the topic here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4465
