Slotting?

I'm a littl hazy on slotting items. I recently found a whispering snake skull. I may sell it, I guess, as I really have no use for it at the early stage my character is in, but in the description it lists combat benefits when "slotted". I can't drag it to my equipment screen. How exactly does one slot an item like this? I've not been able to find the answer.

You click on the skull and right click on the item to be slotted. It will tell you the chance of your success before you decide.

Left click whispering snake skull, right click clothes. You'll see % chance. If you don't want to slot/try just press esc and put item back in inventory.
If you fail with slotting then equipment will be broken and item you tried to slot with will be gone.
If you are on plymouth server I might want to buy that skull

No, there's no in-game mail system. I'm not sure if it's because devs don't want to do it or do the the anonymous character system, maybe both. You make contacts here on the forums and use PMs to pass home secrets so you can kin each other and then chat in-game or recognize each other when trading.
