Yeah was KO, but nearly as bad as death - loss of most goods, experience loss.
Just lost a whole stash of cooked goods to a cricket :/
There is no warning for this kind of thing, I guess it is kind of better than real death - but still don't expect to be killed by a cricket, or pursued relentlessly by a terminator snake that prevents your biles from regenerating. Suppose it is good preparation for actual pvp.

I keep hearing there will be a wipe when the beta changes to commercial beta, or is it when the game goes live?

This is the commercial leg of beta testing (why the store is open for business). It is only designated as closed at the moment, though beta keys are readily available to anyone that wants one if they have a day's worth of patience or so.

More like 20 seconds of patience. When I got mine it said there were like 600 left for that day.

Mereni wrote:What makes you say that? How long have you been playing this game and how long did you play haven and hearth before that? Do you even remember learning to play? I understand how much easier it is if you have high percent seeds, and I recently managed to buy some for grain, and it does help. But before I did, I got my humors up on foraged items and later on things like aztec abatoirs and 0% cabbage cakes. I've been here, what? Two months? Alone, starting from nothing. I think I've done pretty well.

Outside of generalities you should kinda get straight away like build a wall/claim if you want to keep your things and don't let people come near you if you don't know them, playing Haven before Salem gives little to no advantage. I started solo 2 weeks before the wipe in closed beta and had gotten to a point that my stats rivaled the "terminators" that had been playing since closed beta started and had the purity node advantage that was removedby using nothing but foraged and hunted foods. Knowing nothing at all about the game other than it was permadeath and very very vaguely like haven in humour growth (eat things-get big).

Now, I know for a fact that there were all kinds of seeds being sold at 50%+ purity in multiple crops/elements in stalls and in IRC. The fact that you didn't buy them isn't anyone else's problem but yours. I can guarantee you if I put "WTB 50%+ seeds, all types Plymouth" in IRC right now I'd get half a dozen pm's in a few minutes. I know most new people won't think to look in IRC, but asking in Boston or pm'ing traders in the forums wouldn't be out of their scope. It's true there's a lot to figure out when you first begin, but 1 1/2 months to start farming is ridiculous. Even the most casual of casuals would have put some sort of fields down and then done the barest minimum of research to see what elements and crops to invest in to start their farm within a couple weeks.

I haven't really settled and started a farm yet in beta, but yeah, I think I had my first fields up with my first character within a few days, definitely within a week. (Was saving for a backpack and claim first... seeds were expensive way back then.) The efficiency at which you gain humors with just the most basic of crops is just entirely too much to not take advantage of even if you don't have walls and braziers (just don't leave anything laying around).
