One difference is there is no worthwhile quality grind other then farming. I love and hate the fact it takes forever to do some stuff. Getting boards for example takes a week+ depending on what you want and isn't really worth it.

Yea Prospecting is the worse thing i have done,
not bought any rod and i do not really need any high purity ores but i wanted to see how high purity i could find anway.
went prett good untill i did a 39% rod.
been stuck with this 39% rod for like 5-6 days now not finding anything good at all and i talk about walking for hours everyday.....

Purity grinding trees would be interesting since we have forestry. It would allow a couple more purity inspirationals, so it would be worth the effort.

Hmm? Why? It's pretty much the same thing?

It's really not the same thing. In Haven we have silk, we have metal spiraling, farming with growth based on farming skill, animal husbandry, bees wax, trees, ovens/kilns and much more that we can always up the quality on. The grind is endless and gives you a "shoot for the sky" feel. You can sit back and go "if I get x, y and z quality of these items, I can make an item at this quality and it will be beneficial to me in this way". You can look ahead at nearly any goal, and achieve it. In Salem we have 100%. That's it. 100% purity seeds? Been there, done that. Months ago. I could **** 100% purity seeds now, hell I've put some into compost bins. Once you reach a certain stage there's just nothing else to do. Swords and gear don't have purity so there's no point in grinding dat q, cotton purity doesn't really matter just the tier so again pointless. The main reason why Haven's crafting system is superior is not only because there's more to do, but because the sky really is the limit. Check the quality of Cutthroats or bees wax right now in w6 and you'll see what I mean. Also because of this cap in Salem, it renders items as very easily attainable and therefore not worth the effort to raid for. Why would I now raid and risk my humours being perma shotted when I could just as easily make the iron bars myself, if you get my drift. Once you have top q seeds, decent humours, decent defenses, a village claim and tiered fields, there's really no reason to log on currently other than to check that your base isn't going to get buttraped by a waste claim every 8-9 hours. The housing update helped with this and I assume the wilderness updates will also add more to do. Salem isn't a bad game, it's enjoyable. It just lacks the content and grind that haven had at the moment. (Which is to be expected for the beta) I still enjoy dat haven grind to this day. It doesn't feel like "grind" it feels like progress.

But things like silk and beeswax and animal husbandry is going to go into salem, right? It keeps getting slowed down by their changing and changing the raid mechanic, I guess, but aren't a lot of items in haven planned to be here too eventually?

Animal husbandry is planned, but without purity, who cares? I can make milk, get free hides and meat. At 0 purity, like all other animals. All additional crafting methods will be the same if not given a grind aspect. It will be easily attainable and old news in a matter of months. Cheese would be an interesting addition. I ran a massive cheese operation in haven and it was very rewarding, but without dat purity grind idk if it'd have the same effect here or not.

Who said animal husbandry won't have purity? I thought it was going to.

also why even go to the trouble when they will be griefed? turkeys are in and they are by far the biggest waste of time in the game for food. other animals will be no different for a long while.
