Inherit a Claim, whats happend with locked Gates and Chests?

Postby Kralith » Sat Feb 16, 2013 7:45 pm

I have searched a while, but nothing to find about this. Or I'm too stupid.

My simple(?) asks:

I lock some Chests and the Gates on my Claim.
Now i think about a strategy not to lost the keys, so that i can prevent these locked things for a permalock.

First thing, should i place a copy of each keys anywhere in my claim for reason i lost my others?
How can i get access to the locked gates, when i die and my alt inherit my claim? Can he take and use the keys or it is recommended to break in the walls, when the alt will get back the lordshift about the own inherit claim?
Should i better make an alt and can i give them a master copy of the key that he can use?

thats a very good question.. havent seen or read anything related to claiming bound keys when you die. but best suggestion i can give you is level up an alt(bank) bind the masters to it so it can constantly make new keys if needed. then bind slave keys to your active toons. that way if you are killed/koed/robbed they can only steal unusable slave keys instead of the masters, also if you for whatever reason lose a master you get kinda screwed.

so bind masters to altbank that is used solely for key storages as well as level it up to learn locksmith so it can make lock/keys. safest way to do it IMO.

okay, thats have thinking so.
But the next ask comes up... how binding keys to alt?
When i understand the tooltip and wiki rigth, you must click to the other character, to bind on them.
My alt i can never click ... or i do misunderstand this?

If you want to bind the key to another character on your account then you can do the following:
- walk with your alt outside of your claim
- relog to your main, remove all permissions to the claim from your alt
- relog to your alt, toggle criminal acts on and enter the claim then quickly walk out of it. This will trigger criminal debuff on your alt, which will make it stay online until debuff fades
- relog to your main, your alt will still be in game and you will be able to attune keys
- restore permissions to your alt AND WAIT for the alt's criminal debuff to fade. Walking onto the claim with criminal debuff, even when you have all permissions, will refresh the debuff and BB drain will be applied

Or do criminal acts this?

Sorry i'm noobish about these because i havn't do criminal things in salem yet.

You can do it without trespassing and yeah, you have to turn on criminal acts.

Does the alt with the master key need any special skills to make a copy? If so that will mean you have to make a pretty advanced alt.

You have to get Locksmithing to make a key, which is not Super easy to get, but it's not hard if you already have a main who can donate inspirationals.

Yes is not too much work to reach them.
The Professions you must reach all under 3000 Professionpoints.
And all the little inspirationals that i'm find or produce with main and not useful for her can i give my alt.
It is also important to raise the alt for reason death of the main... so he can take over and use quickly all the buildings at the claim.
