I appreciate the difficulty but....

Postby kagrenac » Sun Feb 03, 2013 7:50 pm

When I get bitten by a snake, it's a death sentence. I've died to snakes 5 times since starting and it is frustrating to not be able to do anything about the death. I can't afford the Serum I don't have 230. I just finally saved enough to buy some nails and make a bucket, but then I got bit by a snake, I died near some water and apparently my bucket went in the water. I also lost 2 of my important skills. I really do appreciate the difficulty but there has to be a line drawn between what is difficult and what is just plain dum. In real life if I dropped a bucket in shallow water I'd at least be able to pick it up.

Also please make the Serum more accessible to newer players.

Simple solution.....don't go near snakes

the bucket would be lost irl if there was moving water and depending on the stream

We've all been there with the snake business, lol, you soon learn to run like the wind to water, where they can't get to you. Obviously this is before you get bitten. :)
If you are not close to water, head back to your base and drop your goods off before you keel over.
As there are snakes that will poisen and kill you in rl, depending on where you live, it's not that unrealistic.
I agree with you over the bucket in shallow water though, I lost my first one that way and was pretty p'eed off - the next two got stuck in a cliff.

In a game where random person can completely destroy your place and kill your character permanently removing it, being KOed and losing your inventory / 2 proficiencies is not really that huge problem. Treat it as conditioning to the perma death :)

You got Knocked-out. You didn't die. If you die you will not be able to play your character ever again.
If you use Ender's client you might want to manipulate the RGB value of snakes in the radar.xml file so you can better tell snakes apart from deer (they look almost the same). I use color="#ff8888", which is a bright green colour.

While I have never lost a bucket to snakes I have misclicked a couple of times while filling them with water, no huge loss but quite annoying.

Just try your best to avoid them. You won't get bit if you are never within range of them. When you can get serum later then you can fight them.
It is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9/NIV

I am a proud Christian, post this if you are proud to be one too.
