Problem is, names aren't unique. One could try framing other people by using their name.
On the other side, if we had a way to make them unique (let's say, having unique surnames and making so you show both of them) it could then be useful.

Folks already do. This definitely would make it easier in some ways, harder in others. My only objection to this would be if its mandatory or optional, and is it on or off by default?

Besides, in a game where you can have multiple accounts and multiple characters per account, what, really is important about a name? This is why it's suggested you do trade and people searching through the forums.
