Clay trough bug?

Is it intended that you can fill a barrel to 100 litres (dosn't have to be 100, it's just most productive), put in 2 lime and dump the barrel in a clay trough? It effectively cuts down 4/5 of lime per clay trough

Also, 1 lime only gives a static concentration of lime as if the barrel is full, even if it isn't full.
