That's a pretty good idea right there. Whips could do low damage, but build up reel fast, so uppercuts can do the damage. A viable alternative to a sword, I think.

This is exactly what I had in mind.

Well yeah that, but I was *also* trying to expand upon the idea. Low hp animals like cows, that if you attack normally just die; but if you whip them enough they "ko" or submit, for ranches and such??? Or am I thinking to much about this o.o

Sounds like just an annoying step for animal husbandry.

As much fun as the taming mechanic in HnH was the first few times, it became a horrible, horrible chore, too slow, and overall a giant pain in the ass. Unless you're talking about stealing your neighbors horse or cow, and then why would you need to go through this? I don't see the devs allowing us to tame deer or bears any time soon, either.

Quoting the whole thing since response to it all :P
I didnt know HnH had that mech >.< just thought it would be something cool, but seriously most of this stuff IS a pain in the ass. 40 boards to make a timber pile which takes almost 6 days to dry? :P
And I don't mean deer and bear, I mean some point in developement real ranch mechs with cows, horses, bulls, etc. It was an important aspect down the road a little from those times :geek:

So the idea would be you have a new colt on the farm. Before you can train it to ride, you have to break it and train it to the saddle and all that?

I'm sure Jorb and Loftar have some mechanics for animal husbandry already. No sense discussing how we can steal animals before we can even have animals.

Regardless. Self-flagellation.
