Could be that they look at a field, if there's room, make it 2x2 (not 4x4 as someone else posted). If there's not room, remove the field. It could be that they expand the field, and if there's another object in the way, remove that object. They could do both. We are talking about a couple of devs that have been known to pull a fast one on the players in the name of teh lulz.

lol
that was my impression, i thought it would have been somewhat easy to program non overlapping fields in the beggining , in which you can still place stuff on top.

but once in place how do you nuke it without causing other problems.

guess well find out some day

What problems will be caused by nuking the poorly placed fields? Maybe some nerd rage over the loss of some pixels. There will be some issues with people where they made the mistake of how they placed fields, but I think that's going to be a very small portion of players and their fields. After the first few times of doing it, I think we can say it was intentional.

edit: to note, it's not as easy a fix as it appears as fields should behave much like pavement, but shouldn't allow you to build structures (such as houses and walls) over it.

i liked some of the stuff you can build on the fields though  like braziers compost bins and the juicer.

I could see them just making you unable to plant fields that overlap each other. Actually removing fields I assume would be far too time consuming.

To note: this is strictly my theory. I'm not trying to represent what the devs may or may not do. I'm only trying to say "Hey, this is what could happen. Just be aware before you start abusing bugs that could wipe out weeks of progress."

Yeah, but the whole discussion only clarifies my point: no-one really knows what will happen. Someone says definitely 4x4, someone says maybe 2x2. Someone says nuking, someone says overlapping fields simply becoming unuseable. Someone says friendly devs, someone says trolling devs (have to side with the last one here :) ) There's still unknowns about whether to build braziers over fields is OK or not, ...

My point is: so much anger and rage will probably be averted if only they would give a statement of the size fields will end up to be, and what exactly the overlapping rules will be...
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Possible way to nuke everything, is they make farms have a hit box, and if the new farm hit box overlaps any other hit box, both are removed.

This is the only way i can see how they can nuke the fields. Farms with hit box ? Means extra space between fields also then, will make me cry, and should hopefully put a huge hole in making alts as farming space will sky rocket.

@Dallane, i really hope for a server wipe This game needs it before commercial launch.

Why would you remove both?

I can immediately see another option: only restrict it to hitboxes of other fields. As anfros said, check for overlap upon seeding attempt. Others definitely possible.

I'm quite sure farms never were ment to have a hitbox, since we have to reach the center to perform any actions on it.
