That would open another opportunity for easy loot transporting, assuming that the distance between the homestead and logged out character wouldn't matter.

A good point, and something I had overlooked.

Might be able to partally mitigate this by teleporting the robbed character to their homestead (but not bringing them online).

Or, could just wait until their next login with a message similar to what is displayed now when trying to log on in an occupied spot. "Your homestead has been robbed. Go to the scene of the crime, losing your inventory?"

The more complicated this gets, though, the less convinced I am it would be a worthwhile change.

Faithfully,

What if sleeping chars could only be murdered via scent summoning like normal? It'd be strange to only be able to rob someone but I think that'd be an alright break in realism. Also no hitbox on sleeping characters so that they can't be used to block things.

This would fix most problems with my idea. But still Boston problem remains - what to do with players logged off in Boston? Especially if they do not have homestead, like noobs?

Guess there should be some kind of alert on logging off, something like - you will drop all your items 20 minutes after logging off - if they don't have an homestead. Or make it so you can get their items at their homestead.

Boston is safe zone, so char that logged off there should be safe, he can stay in game, but nothing bad can happen to him.

You can do same now, just gather some friends and someone said that logged out chars shouldn't have hitbox :)

awesome
when that gets implemented mayby we can talk about "ideas on defeating alt-vaulting" ¦]

that just brings us back to where we are darnokpl, the problem to altvaulting is very much tied to boston.

i liked the full breath of the ideas op and some i would love to see implemented in some fashion. But strictly on the issue of alt vaulting i always though the simplest and cleanest design is simply to not allow items to be logged off, or you could moderate this to some extent, by deciding what items can be logged off and which can't.

You could decide that when chars log off all items remain in game ,or you could exclude more items.

i don't believe that all items that get alt vaulted away are problamatic.

imo many items are insignificant, and don't think they negatively effect the game like 0 %pure foragables , but items such as seeds, silver, iron, coal, would be on the top of my list.

i'd be more than happy with a partial list of items that would be unlogable at least as a test run.

note: unlogable is not a word, but i firmly believe it will become one some day.
