How can I be dead?

Hello, first of all, as this is my first post, I want to thanks Seatribe for this magnifient game, I really enjoy it.
Unfortunately, I may have encounter some sort of bug(I really hope it is one). This weekend, when I connected to the game, I found myself presented to the frightening perspective of seeing my three weeks old character dead. Nothing extraordinary, you would tell.
But how could I have died?
I was not connected, in my claim, no criminal scent whatsoever.
Can one kill another while this latter is disconnected?
I know the perpetrator of this ignominous act though, it is the infamous Darwoth of Jamestown, who took a wonderful time at writing his name in the dirt. Wonderful Sir, It really improves the countryside (irony on, for those who hadn't noticed.).
I longuely hesitated at posting on the help thread but I'm just hopeful that it is a bug and not a speficity. Though I don't hope to get back my old character (I won't say no if it is possible ahah), if it is indeed a bug, I only hope for it to be fixed soon.

you was summon killed? have you ever committed crime?

maybe your home was declaimed and you KO'd out on somebody else's which you though was your own?

You can summon people??? The only crime I made to Darwoth was to trespass his ******* wall to go into the wild and I walked like 10 hours at the fronteer with the Darkness. And I trespassed 2 weeks ago...

larceny, waste, battery (KO) and murder all leave summon-able evidence.

doesn't have to be committed against darworth himself but if he found evidence of crimes you left against other people he can use that too.

Well I did commited a few larceny but near the capital and the day before my death. How long did the evidence stay?

3-4 days for larceny scent I think. Would explain how he found them and tracked you to your homestead so soon.

fyi evidences last x10 longer than the scent.
