For those of us less informed about their vent and personalities, define "special"? Curiosity and all of that. I've met some truly... interesting... people on various guilds' Vents. Terrifyingly "interesting" stuff sometimes. I learned what a Cosby Sweater was thanks to Vent. Do not Google that.

But that has nothing to do with taxes. Or as they're officially called Free Merchants of Plymouth Raider Insurance. I believe I have no need for the insurance. And each of you should ask yourself a question: would you IRL buy a life insurance package if the salesman knocked on your doors and threatened you with bad things if you don't buy it?

It is a game, and because it is a game either options are viable. In real life, if one were to live in an anarchy such as Plymouth, one would be very wise in keeping good relations with the organization that seems to be most powerful; in real life, your life is at stake and not just some pixels.

My point exactly. Some would play the wise way (and it actually is) and pay the treaty so those colourful pixels representing their farm would not be harmed. It's just that I find the reckless rolling stone playstyle to be more fun for me. And I love good forum drama. With pictures please... I like pictures.

The tribespeople seem very eloquent and sensible.

I didn't pay until just recently, never had any trouble with MM and honestly never intended to pay it in the first place. Frankly, I thought it was just a troll and they'd find an RP reason to wipe a hermit anyways (chopped trees). It does seem they've been keeping to the treaty though, and since I've already been run off plenty by Russians in their days on Plymouth I'm not sure I'd be down to start over again. I've never been lucky enough to see a stall for sell, and since I have to leave my walls anyways for my monthly cricket farming for Jorbtar I think the decreased risk of a base wipe is worth an extra 30 minutes to an hour of that. All the guys I've played with have either quit or gone to another server, so I'm all alone out here...

The thing that finally decided me agains paying it is that, once you have paid, you never have a choice to stop paying. You are locked into there system forever. They know who you are, and where you live. If you ever stop they will come and kill you and destroy your town. Hiding may be more difficult, but its far more worth it to me.
