Walking Staves

Postby Etherdrifter » Thu Jan 10, 2013 12:22 pm

The worlds of salem are rather large and empty at the moment, people can wander for a good while before finding an active player. Most people are wandering around with their axes and sabres at the ready, not the kind of person you want at your doorstep. So a little pilgrom flavour, for when hiking over long distances and for when you don't want to scare the crap out of a potential neighbour, some walking stave ideas and recipes!

All staves take up both hand slots.

Name : Stave
Crafting Cost : 4 woodblocks
Skills : Whittle
Effect : 5% movement speed increase when held, half damage dealt in combat.

Name : Iron Shod Stave
Crafting Cost : 2 nails, 1 iron bar, 4 woodblocks
Skills : Blacksmithing
Effect : 5% movement speed increase when held, 3/4 damage received in combat

Name : Torch Stave
Crafting Cost : 4 woodblocks, 1 torch, 2 nails
Skills : Blacksmithing maybe?
Effect : 5% movement speed increase when held, half damage dealt in combat, acts as a torch and can be lit/refilled as such

Name : Savage Stave
Crafting Cost : 4 woodblocks, 2 savage charm, 2 Indian cloth
Skills : Indian Tracking
Effect : 5% movement speed increase when held, half damage dealt in combat, small (1% or so?) chance to collect 2 foragables instead of one.

Love the idea. Been wanting walking staves since I saw the icon on Wander mode.

How about a slight reduce in phlegm consumed while using wander maybe?

Yeah this looks like an awesome idea.

Love this idea. Would love the bonuses and the added looks. I agree, maybe add a decrease in the amount of phlegm for wander.

I would like to add that the staves should not be equip-able when in combat. It would be horrible to see a PVP scene where quick swapping and hot swapping staves to catch people became the norm.

I'd rather see an alteration to equipping in general when in combat. Say it taking a certain amount of time to change equipment when in combat.

And if you're hit during the change it cancels and you're stuck without both of the items unequipped and one of them still on your mouse.

I think they should make you use less phlegm

I like the idea of more utility items, maybe we could also have an actual quarterstaff, a bit extra movements speed, just a little more damage than unarmed, and a small stunning effect on hit. Would need some negative effects as well I suppose.

Adding to this thread as opposed to posting a new one.

Wooden paddle and metal paddle, increase your speed in canoes and rowboats.
