Claim walls, making the game unplayable for new players

Postby Palle » Wed Jan 02, 2013 9:42 am

Since some "smart" people have made a "wall" outside Roanoke(and other placed from what I can read), it has made the game pretty much unplayable for new players.
You can't leave Roanoke unless you skill up and get a free port out of town, or have swimming and a decent amount of Phlegm, both of which require you to gather/craft inspirationals.
And inspirationals or the rrequired mats seem very hard to come by, in the closed off area that new players have access to.

Is anything being done about this, or are the devs fine with the situation?

Devs don't care about the players really, the people who did this contacted them b4 hand and got the ok. You need to contact paradox if you want to see a solution to this problem.

If the devs don't care about the game, there is no reason why I should.

They care about the game but if drama happens then they like that also.

Your best bet is to use the wilderness guide and not hang around that area.

I tested the Jamestown "wall" yesterday. No problem finding inspirationals in the area between Boston and the "wall". People who have a claim/leanto could take some basic inspirationals to town and give it to new characters if they disagree with the "walls".

Well it's not a problem for me personally.
But the game already has a steep learning curve, and for people starting out in Roanoke, I can see it really kill peoples enthusiasm for trying/testing the game.
And I figure they want more people to test it since they are still passing out beta keys.

Since its a beta the devs might allow more crazy stuff like this than in final game.

imo it makes it better because noobs might realize "oh I can't cross this point, maybe I should go back and there is something I have to do." Or it just might seperate the dumbasses who don't read the tutorial from those who don't.
