Indeed. But just to help him to get rid of that confusion, those full of pride in life can hardly renounce it 'in a freaking videogame'. Just as those without a backbone cannot just suddenly grow one in a game. Same logic follows other 'hardcoded personalities', which can be observed on this forum. Most obvious ones are sycophant minions that grow like weed in every thread that can be remotely connected to chief and his doings.

skipping all the BSing posts about random drama.

i have to wonder as one of those "noobs" what is then the ideal base defense design that should be used as a base to work off from then? if the guide's 3 wall suggestion is next to worthless like salt sprinkled on sand.
and blazers are pretty easy to take out when used with the old 3 wall design. what would then be the suggestion type of base that isnt an old HnH hearth vault of retardation..

as i personally would rather not see small claims shoved in an impassable mountain with multiple brick walls and unbreakable chests blocking the door that requires a ram to breach..
i also do not want to see the hard work people like my self have put in gathering stone for stone walls and dry boards for plank walls making a nice looking hermit/town area fall apart to 1 person in 30seconds:/

while im sure noob vs noob the current defenses are fairly balanced (noob being a 50 or less humor toon) it seems pretty clear going by the current way plymoth is going that once a person is 100 humor.. you could have a default town claim with nothing but plank walls and a a single leanto in the middle and still the person would walk in like the walls werent even there.

(currently system reminds me of the pally walls from haven.. with people using pickaxes and like 50+str to just beat them down..)

If I recall correctly it was 576 with a pickaxe so it did take a bit longer than just 50 strength but your comparison is apt regardless.

I just think building multiple walls feels boring and mostly: looks stupid. One wall layer should be enough to keep the attackers out. The tier of wall would determine how strong the attackers it would turn off, or how long it would turn them off for.

Also this. I don't see Jorb (or the hardcore players) going for it as well, but one can hope. I'd love to see Salem being a populated game. I have a clan full of people who like sandboxes but are turned off by the lose-it-all everywhere/anytime permadeath, with little chance of actually increasing survival by building up your defenses.

The way I see it now, this game is for people that have large amounts of time to spend on it - I have yet to die, but I probably won't be raising a new character once I die, because it's just too much time input for the fun I get. FYI foraging and the early game is boring as **** and it takes forever for a casual player to get enough skills to actually build something worth mentioning. I've had so many friends try Salem and after a few hours think foraging is the main gameplay and therefore quit. The whole inspirational system feels like you're doing something completely irrelevant and meaningless to your characters progression. I'd rather see bots in the game and have my skills be raised by doing stuff relevant to the skill (chopping boards increases Hammer&Nail?).

I don't see why a casual should play this game, where it's so easy to lose it all so fast. Yeah it's a niche game, so why should the casuals enjoy it, you ask? I'd say some catering to casuals needs to be done, or you'll be stuck with the same 50 people online in a few months, circlejerking.

That was a bit of a rant about everything, but I needed to get that out.

Well, I'm going to guess that a lot have simply stopped playing when they lost their chars, probably thinking the same thing I wrote down. Or have given up in the foraging early game, before the game actually gets fun.

I'd say its more along the lines of nothing to do. Not everyone wants to get involved in pvp. Summon wars is about the only thing to do after you have everything.
