Why this late on Plymouth am I still only seeing 3-4 walls?

Postby KingdomOfOne » Sun Dec 30, 2012 3:59 am

It's like hurp durp, I'm gonna quit because the someone bashed through FOUR walls, raiding is broken, chief is a dev, mm tribe bug abuses, hurr durr
Do people not understand they are the ones making fail bases?
I see people investing more time into building houses and playing farmville, when this is in fact a farmville where people can run up and murder you. :o

Work on defenses first.
I still haven't seen certain designs which are clearly superior if people actually took a minute to think about what they were doing.

It would also sadden me to continue to see people keep jumping ship on Plymouth blaming others when it was in fact their own stupidly thought out base that led to their downfall.
Get smart people. You don't think your new fail bases on another server will fall just as fast?

WWCD?

WHAT WOULD CHIEF DO?

Walls are useless, cause they are exactly as in H&H. That means that after people get a certain amount of stats, they're basically like butter. Static defenses can't do anything versus ever-growing chars.
Anyone could have foreseen this. And some people did indeed, even more than six months ago, but no one cared about their opinion. And now we see the results.

You said yourself raiding is broken. Some people cant be ***** to break their wall segments every time someone wanders onto their claim to refill braziers and walls don't mean ****.

Why should more than 4, 6, 10, 14 walls even be necessary?

Raiding isn't really broken imo, purity is, which allows easy-mode raiding through infinite wall layers in short order. And if someone does die, it allows that person to make another replacement in days to keep raiding. Humours just passed the walls up a long time ago so it seems like they're all papery garbage now.

As for base defense designs, why don't you lay one out for scrutiny? I have yet to see one that will take more than a couple hours to get into with 2-3 people that have good stats.

try to do it without treewalls and unliftable boulders

If we're going without treewalls/unliftable boulders...

Wall > wall/brazier combo (make wall, break every 2nd wall piece, put brazier in between) > wall, repeat. Then scatter gates so only one tile is bashable at any time. Then when you're finished but claim stone in front of one tile of the last gate.

WITH treewalls/unliftables/gay ****

Do this:
Wall > wall/brazier combo (make wall, break every 2nd wall piece, put brazier in between) > wall, repeat. Tree wall. As many as you can manage. Glitched stone walls (at least one). Then make walls with sleds under them. Break wall segment, pull sled in, rebuild wall. Makes for uber unliftable wall tile. Then scatter gates so only one tile is bashable at any time. Then when you're finished but claim stone in front of one tile of the last gate. Another thing is to surround your wall with auth objects like flags or stones and leave one tile open so it's not "bug abuse" since you can TECHNICALLY get in.

THAT is how you defend your ****. I've known about all of that since alpha (minus tree walls) but it's just a real ***** to do and it's super lame imo.

That'd just slow down breaking the braziers, you'd be able to get in just as fast as if each wall was spaced out. Braziers aren't important when breaking in to summon, the one-hit leanto is.

Not to summon, but to completely level the place. That method makes it so they need to get in, steal some ****/summon/do whatever fast and gtfo. It's good if you want to keep your base at least.
