Lock / Key - not working ... I must be doing it wrong

Having trouble with the LOCK / Key thing...

Made a New Lock & Bolt
Made a Key

Took the Key and Clicked it on the Lock & Bolt, it did the numbers thing.

Took the Lock & Bolt and applied it on Gate, it did the numbers thing..

Gate doesnt want to open, right clicking on it, holding key doesnt do it, having keyring .. nothing works.

Is that before you put it on the LOCK part?

I tried hold the key on the character, right clicking on it, right clicking on the top left avatar thing .. doesnt do anything

You do not need to attune the key to yourself if you made it. If someone else made it, THEY need to attune it to you. Otherwise, if you used the key on the lock (saw numbers) you should not be having this issue. What kind of key was it?

Ok that did it ..

My Main created the LOCK / KEY, I gave it to a alt to use on a gate...

I had to trade the key back to the Main, have the main click the key on the alt and it now works.
