townbell cashflow and decay.

two questions related to towns..

1) the town's total cash hit 0/740, i then quit the town and put 10s in to the bell to try and become mayor (as the current mayor has quit) i did not receive anything for it, other then the fact i can still put/take stuff out of boxes while not being part of any town (game does not show charter or show that i am a member of a town)... so im kinda confused, if you put silver in a bell that is showing a red 0/max you arent made mayor?? or should i have waited longer??

2) what the fk is up with town decay? town bell was at 9/740 and the town is decaying like its been unclaimed for a week. fully healed coop instantly lost 25% health, i have composts and farmer houses that are dropping to 50% health all while the town still has money (the bell was showing the amount in red though)... so im perplexed at how a town which still has money in it, is decaying faster then buildings that were on a Pclaim that was dropped a week ago (took 1 week for a farmer house to despawn after the Pclaim was dropped on it) while i understand decay is kinda random... i dont understand why its decaying so fast.
kind of pisses me off, as the townhouse i was working on despawned today (was just a sign) taking the planned boards/dry boards and bricks and 1 nail with it.. not looking forward to losing the other smelter someone was building as i cant be bothered to farm hay for that instead of my farms >>"

TD;DL: why was i not given mayor of the town, after dropping my citizen rights and putting silver in it, when its balance was "red" 0/max, also why is everything decaying and despawning in less then 24hrs while still on the Vclaim and it still having silver in it??

Right click town bell ?

Also, no use in taking a bell it seems, better go with a massive pclaim

2) bell showing in red ammount = village claim not active/not protecting
Townhouse is big so there is bigger probability for it to be hit by decay

it seems weird though that it would disable the vclaim protection while it still had silver init. sure its not 40s but given that its 10s every 6hrs i would have expected it to still protect against decay while it was still above 0s :/

just slightly annoyed that all my planned/dryed boards and bricks i had in the townhouse sign went poof when honestly they shouldnt have.

still not sure why even after i quit the town, and put silver in the bell it wasnt letting me become the mayor. (granted the other villagers were still "alive" if you can call being inactive alive) hopefully it was just player error on my part and not a game issue with vclaims, other wise there is no way for a quasy active town to replace a inactive mayor besides smashing the hell out of the bell and risking half of their village imploding. unless you have to insert 100+ silver to switch the mayorship (i was doing like 1-10s as i didnt know if it would work for sure or not.)

Going by the relevant wiki page:
http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Town_Bell wrote:Exactly three conditions need to be fulfilled for one to be able to become mayor of a town:

* The town currently has no mayor
* The character trying to become mayor has Compacts & Constitutions
* Either the character trying to become mayor needs to be a citizen of the town, or the town must be out of authority, or there must be no citizens at all in the town.

If you right-click the townbell without getting the option to become mayor, that means at least one of the above is not true.

First off, do you have Compacts & Constitutions?

If so, the third condition should be the issue. Since you're no longer a citizen of the town, and your inactive village mates probably are, you'll have to wait for the silver to run out and then right-click the bell. I think.

ya that seems to be the issue. the old mayor went inactive (been over a week+ now) the cash flow was 0/740 so everything was decaying rapidly.
i quit the town as i figured you had to, as being a towny would mean i would just donate to the current town bell total and not actually replace the mayor.

in the end i and the rest of the remaining people bashed the bell and built a new one lol problem solved but still a costly thing to do for a small group (glad we had forsight to stock pile cash if that was the case)

i was lead to understand, if the bell hit 0 i could just invest money and voosh become mayor but unless there is a required amount you must invest for that to happen (i was only placing 1-10s as to not waste a ton of silver if it didnt work) i couldnt seem to get the game to make me mayor

but owell we fixed it the brute force way lol

im still alittle shocked at how fast everything decayed though.
