To access the stocking you need 2 things, (1) house with a stove and (2) YOUR own claim over that house, Once you do this you can put the stocking on the stove and get your presents, Opening it beforehand won't deny you the presents.

i have a lean-to with rights on anothers claim and she was able to open her stocking on the fireplace claim??

On one character I was able to open the stocking on a stove that was part of someones personal claim with a village claim on top of it and I had rights to both. I happened to build that stove. My mate tried on the same stove which didn't work and then tried on another stove (one that we hadn't built) on the same vclaim but a different personal claim and it did not work for either of us.

Hey, neat idea with the stockings! I got mine and hung it from my mantle and got my neat gift. Looks wonderful.

Sadly, my wife is ready to throw her stocking out the window because she can't hang it up. We are both on the same claim with only one hearth. Once I hung my stocking, she could not hang hers.

Ok, we have 7 people in this place and 2 of them was able to open his on someone else's stove on someone else's claim, however i can not. if we try and open it on someone else's claim do we lose what was in there when we open it?
