leanto claimed?

Hi there -

I finally was able to construct a pilgrim hovel out in the wilderness.

I claimed a small area of land for my homestead and have been clearing some land, using the leanto as a storage area.

Today when I logged on I found my leanto had a little paper on the side of it. When I tried to take my supplies out of it, I was informed it was claimed.

How do I get rid of it now? Am I in trouble?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for helping out a newb.

I'm assuming the lean-to was off your claim area?

Someone has come along and claimed the lean-to as their homestead, however there is nothing stopping you taking a shovel and knocking it down aslong as it isn't on someone else's claim (in which case you will need the required skills).

Yes, it was right off the claimed area....should have extended it a little further.

I have no problem with a neighbor, but from what ive seen on the forums I am a little wary.

Actually am I able to destroy the leanto if it is claimed? If so is a shovel what I would need?

If the leanto is not covered by your claim, you need the 'waste' skill and turn on criminal acts. It will leave a clue that somebody could use to kill your character while it is offline.

If you can, just cover the leanto with your personal claim and use the destroy command on it.

Also, you don't need a shovel, an axe works just fine for smashing it down.

Are you in the Jamestown server? because i think that might have been me...
I am a new player and got lost. Then i came upon a settlement with an unclaimed leanto so i used it to port back to town with my items.
Sorry if it was yours.
I have the hiking skill but have not found a decent place to make a new leanto so i am kind of stuck on that one...

When you destroy a leanto it's content disappears.
