Nope, I still would have said the thread is garbage.

Ok, so you think its garbage and your only reason is that it breaks with the sandbox. I have not said anything about making this hardwired in the game except for a thought on tax which I realise might not fit the game. Taxes could maybe be paid via the mailman or the banker and sent to the leader. On laws: I suggested anyone could propose them and then we could vote on them. The basis for this stuff to work would in any case be brute force which both aformentioned factions possess.

It's garbage, because for police force to work they would require means to enforce the law. Power corrupts - once people get such means they usually use them to steal, grief and murder. Because those bring benefits of loot.

Basically you request that someone works hard to gain the power needed and then restrain themselves from using it against innocent and defenseless.

Even more, easiest way to obtain such power is to simply raid settlements and grow stronger on their loot, which obviously would be forbidden for the police.

Actually, raiders have biggest incentive to work on strengthening themselves - it brings them profit and keeps them safe. You can expect that most raiders will be growing in strength faster than the police.

In the real world people bunched up together and formed villages, then small countries and governments. People were giving part of their freedom and goods to support their group/village/government which in turn was giving them some safety. But Salem is not a real world, but a game. Many people would rather stop playing if their only other choice was to join village for protection or pay taxes to some police. In real world the only way to "stop playing" is to commit suicide.

I think a good suggestion would be to implement NPC Guards you can hire for silver for a duration of time on your land, you would set up a patrol route for them or you would station them at specific locations.

More than 1 guard can be hired, you can hire stronger and stronger guards for increased silver amounts. like 1000s for a 100 blood / 100YB for 7 days, per 1 guard. So even to get a good amount of defences for 1 week, will cost a pretty penny, but your stuff should be pretty safe.

Guards will react to crimes done on the land, the only difference is, they will be mobile and if you have several guards, unless its a huge raiding force should be able to defend your land against raids.

Guards also have the ability to instant murder any KO'd criminal on the land of the person being raided.

Surely such a thing would not be so hard to introduce into the game.

Waits why this suggestion gets shut down.
