why make complaints and voice a opinion about something b4 looking to see if they have been changed? clicking announcements once a week-month isn't a time consuming ordeal.

OP has a point, as so many others.
I only managed to get into Beta yesterday and thankfully I have been watching GamerZakh's videos for at least three days. If I hadn't I wouldn't have had a chance!

Someone tried to attack me yesterday but I was right at the border of Boston and quickly returned to the safe area. :D

Only idea in this thread that has merit in my opinion is having some sort of 'Friendly' emote/greeting that non-hostile players can give to each other so they don't have to run scared from every person they see. It should by no means be permanent though, just something that disallows the player from initiating combat for ~1 minute and carries some obvious visual signal (wave a white flag) so others can see it and know your not about to gank them.

A white flag is unrealistic. Do you see people in the street waving white flags? May they kill you at any moment? Yes, but usually they dont. The same goes here. Most people arent killers. You just need to know where the killers are. (Outside of Boston.)

I am not sure I understand that right...
so I am going to kill you and destroy your camp and them switch "emote/greeting" to non-hostile player, so nobody can kill me and take back your stuff?

I think the idea was, that someone who does the emote cannot attack, so in theory if you see someone perform the emote then they are safe to approach for a minute. I'm not sure i like the idea massively though. It dosn't protect the emoter from being attacked themselves, it's like laying down your sword.

I don't understand why there isn't a 2-3 day 'newbie mode' for new players.
Like great, I get it, it's a harsh game, but unless you spend HOURS reading up and/or watching youtube video's before you start it's next to impossible to have a clue what you need to do. So wonderful "don't go AFK ever" is all you more experienced players keep saying, and after you have been playing for a few days that is much easier to do. In the first 2-3 days however, it would be nice if there was a blanket 'newbie mode' so that all new characters have a small chance to get somewhere in the game before giving up because there are far too many nasty people out there who just want to kill everyone they see because they can.

Flame me for my opinion if you like, I really don't care, just realise that not everyone learns at the same pace and you shouldn't have to read for a week to start playing an online game. I like the game, never going to buy silver though, why would I when I can be perma killed?

I've never been killed or even attacked and have played a month.

The reason for not having a noob mode though is people would just spam new accounts and use them to block.

I'm not sure why you think it's so much easier for people who have been playing for a few days to avoid going afk. I've been playing for over a month and I still refer to the wiki on a regular basis. It literally takes seconds to log out before looking something up or when you see someone coming. The people who end up having the worst starting experiences are the ones who think it's too much trouble to take some simple precautions.

Yes that was the general idea, you can't initiate combat for a brief time (as if you temporarily lose Rights-of-Englishmen), but you should be able to fight back if someone else attacks you under any circumstance even after using said emote, all that matters is the initiation being frozen out.
