No, having them cut wood is indeed multiboxing, just a very very slow task you set them to doing.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

Another good use is to have spy-alts placed in important locations, like Boston and maybe the path to your base.

Hmm but that's just botting or running multiple clients. Isn't multiboxing about running multiple clients AND controlling them all together manually as one?

Good point.

I see no reason to multibox Salem then :)

I can multibox 2 alt chars, that gives me extra inventory space, they can carry boat/sled, I can use them when regenerating my P/BB, scout them in opposite directions to reload minimap (requires advanced scripting), carry on them materials to build leantos wherever and whenever I want so I can tp 1 of them to Boston for easy storage. If you wish I can tell more, but the game's performance is SO crappy it cant handle multiboxing. I have been multiboxing on everygame I played so far, especially on WoW with 5 accounts at the same time but I havent even bothered to try it on Salem because I can hardly play with one char.

In haven i ran ~4-5 clients at once quite routinely (mainly for logging), when I try to run a 2nd salem client my crappy computer gives up totally ^^. So I've decided to play without alts, as a challenge :)

Is there a way to recover lost username? I made an alt account but can't remember what the username or password was.

Also it won't let me make another account at the same email address although i already made 2 accounts with it.

1. Not that I'm aware of. I haven't tried using the password recovery since it's been implemented, so I don't know what information is sent. If good security is in place, only a password is sent. You might try dropping TotalyMoo a PM here and see if there's anything that can be done.

2. Huh... I wonder why? This is the first I've heard of this.

2. I think you haven't assigned email to the first account you created, but did so with the second one.

The classic multi-boxing definition is just running multiple clients simultaneously. Thinking back to EQ days, one of the simplest uses was to have healer and/or buffing characters follow your fighter around to throw heals and buffs at the fighters in your group. No outside software required, just judicious use of /follow and access to enough computers to make it work.

A bunch of us multi-box in EvE when we mine since you have a mining character stuck in place with limited storage and can use another character to run ore back to the station as soon as your industrial has a full load (fortunately, these days, computers can handle more than one client so it is possible to do this on a single rig).

"These days" as in 2003? ;) Been running multiple accounts on the same system since... well, since I had a computer with enough RAM as processing has rarely been the issue (pretty much since the Pentium and Win95). Unless you're running side-by-side windows, windows in the background don't actually get rendered, so only need a small fraction of the usual computing power.

Bring this up again because ....

http://www.twitch.tv/daopa/c/3768129

When you run into a guy multiboxing with like 5+ guys following em .. this kinda is problematic -

If theres no rules against it .. i think it maybe time to start up ISBoxer !
