[Wiki] Wiki Suggestion thread

Oh, and about wiki search - currently when you search for a short period it shows wiki results, and then they change to Google. Is it supposed to work that way?

well the google search results are loaded asynchronously via javascript iirc, so that is the reason for the delay. i wanted to keep the standard wiki search results, at least for a while, since i wasn't sure which would provide better search. right now I think having both is nice.

Please keep the original search, if only for the entry that says page does not exist, do you want to edit it. Also, sometimes having fewer hits is a good thing (google gets stuff like the sematic wiki property pages.

What the hell does that crap have to do with Salem. Why do I, as the paying customer, have to wade through Google Adds just to find the information that is readily available (without the Google Adds) on any other games Wiki. Why am I forced to search on Google for what I want. If that is all this Wiki is, a linked Google Page, then I might as well use Google.

This game is free, you aren't a paying custumer. Or maybe you wanted to write "playing". This is an unofficial wiki. Other wikis have ads too. Who forces you to search on google? Ok, I think you are maybe drunk or something.

Those aren't standard ads.
Wiki search has been modified to use google search, probably to save on resources. As a side effect, search results which google adds as ads are also displayed.

i am using the wiki to provide information about the game to the player.

the ads are fairly obviously ads and you can just scroll past them? if you'd like to be "a paying customer" you can pay me $100 and i will disable the ads from the google search. google provides a better search engine than mediawiki does, so i added the google search. it comes with ads. deal with it.

Even if you were a paying customer of Paradox/SeaTribe, that doesn't do anything for the maintenance of the wiki or other fan sites.

Just be glad it's not being hosted on a wiki site best not named. Then you get all that annoying crap and even slower wikis.

When that site first started, it was a wonderful place to base a wiki. But they kept "improving" it and now, I am saddened everytime I need to go back to one of the wikia on that site.
