Make it so you have to retrieve the items and pay the tax again if you want to change the price.
That will only make you think twice before filling all your stall slots lavishly.

Another currency would just be cumbersome, rather a forced amount of how many must be purchased would be better. IE: I put sticks on sale for 1s each, and force a 5 stick per purchase. That is 5 sticks taxed to .75 silver, with the total rounded to 4 silver net gain. The tax would be the same (5 x .15 = .75) but items for 1 silver each still net silver.

And when the seller is there he can also sell stuff cheaper to some people if he likes, for example. The rent can be only for a day and at a fixed time all the server gathers in the market managers' office and the first people to register for renting stalls win.

Seller being present would just make me have to have an alt afk in front of my stall.

There was actually at least one thread already about the problem with market stalls: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1020
Maybe the rent money for the stalls should only come from the 15% tax of sold products?

There is no problem at all though. The 15% tax is taken from total sales, not individual price. If you sell 100 items for 1s each you still only get 85s at the end.

Edit: Wups, misread. True but ignore that.

Dosn't change anything, i could still buy my own goods enough to pay the rent.

I'm not sure stalls are a madsive issue ingame right now.

Talk to the people who own em. They are the most incredible wealth generator this game has to offer. You can slap out 10 iron bars worth of junk and have 1k silver more or less anytime you want it. Times 10, per couple days.

Well fair enough, the problem isn't one of vaulting though. The problem is that the stalls are hard coded into the game at server start up and once they've been all bought up in the first day there is no way to get hold of one. Got 1000000 silver? nope can't get a stall, got a 200 man zerg of ppl with 300 biles? nope can't get a stall.

Yes, people see vaulting as the issue, but the reality those stalls weren't bought and maintained as vaults at all.

But no: Stalls aren't hard coded. Jorb and Loftar can place more if they wish.

I was thinking more on this and after have a conversation with a friend of mine we came up with this:

Place a timer and queuing system on them, for example you sign up to use a stall for say 48 hours, after which your name goes into a queue, you pay up front for the 48 usage of the stall, when its your turn you can then place your wears up for sale, once the 48 hours is up, your item are returned to you via a 'virtual container' which needs to be emptied within a week. After a month has passed you can again sign up to use the stall (or less depending on how large the queue is)

This would solve the issue with people using them as glorified vaults, would give everyone a chance to use them and keep the market a vibrant, interesting and competitive place to go and find things for sale.

Refund current owners when implementing the system, lets face it, you would be upsetting about 1% of the player base and pleasing the other 99. (We are the 99 woot!)

If you want to get rich without having a stall, open a trade thread or stand in Boston WTS stuff. The stalls just eliminate that part of the process, but it is still available for everybody to utilize. I don't see the problem with the stalls. 5-10k up front and then upkeep every week. How about they just increase the upkeep so that people who don't actively sell stuff on their stall will eventually fall behind on rent and the stall will be abandoned. This has happened to a couple of the new stalls in Boston already. "You snooze, you lose." That is my philosophy on the stalls.
