I only now noticed the argument going.
Popham didn't had enough to offer, it was nothing close to what the people had imagined for taking away all the aspects of the game they enjoyed. Lets get our facts straight, they removed most of those aspects from Providence and tried to package them into expeditions. You are free to ask any old vet. I still think its a bad decision to do so, regardless of proper implementation. I'd much rather have a balanced main server, with perhaps dynamic expeditions (short, fun and less relevant)
Except a few people that I played Popham with have permanently quit the game. I was very much willing to play Popham, or atleast give it an attempt. I just felt that it didn't had the nessesary tools to offer for a suposedly short-duration server and after the first month almost all of the competition vanished.
When I lurked around 5 months later, it was impossible to get a grasp on the general status quo, cannons were basicly the only thing being used and people just blocked it with houses and everything was fine by the developers as always and everything worked as intended. Town/witch locations shoud've been public, regardless of the map-size its extremely hard to find a specific person. Even right now its very much possible to murder Darwoth's witch with a zerg if you actually would be able to locate him.
I am not really arguing about the rewards, they fully are deserved probaly even all of the secondary prizes aswell. I am just a bit sad that the old times of Popham will be removed by doing so, alot did happen during the first month.
