You're rationalizing. It is immoral to take something that doesn't belong to you. Doesn't matter if you throw it away once you're tired of it.

Is it unethical to take others stuff in Salem or do people consent to such possibility by simply playing the game?

Is it unethical to kill a pixelated zombie? Don't be silly, there's no comparison between a game and real life.

You think so? I think there is a direct comparison. Even if you don't pay for shop items you still invest time in the game. I mean, sure, it's not the same, compared to real life crimes it is not even on the scale of bullies taking your lunch money I guess.
But people still get really salty about others reaping the fruits of their in-game labour, they feel wronged.
Should I rephrase it as "Is it unethical to consciously cause other people distress?"
On the other hand by playing they kinda agree to this, so there is nothing to feel bad about.

Rimworld's next update will include cocaine, crack, amphetamines, marijuana, and a synthetic combat drug. Time to make a colony of drug addicts.

It is.
Is also immoral to trick people and boost the value of something that doesn't have that value.
Or buy the review votes to rate your game high and fool people.
Or give a broken game claiming it's complete.
Or hide behind the "early access" to justify the lack of will to create a real game.
Or sell half of the game at full price and publish a DLC at full price again, two months after.
And so on.

We all become slightly Bad People, in a certain amount, to defend ourselves from other bad people.
This doesn't justify me to sell stolen games and gain from it, or share it for free to friends. or keep it on my pc.
This is not a "revenge".

I do feel that i still walk in the green area if i just defend myself, checking the game before buy it, and i don't abuse of it.

Everybody fall in a trick, someday. If we fall too much, we stop to believe in others.
In this way, i don't have to feel endangered or trickered. I can give my money without regrets, and in the long run i know i will give more money than i would do without this "self-made demo mechanism".
I'm actually buying more game in these years, than before.
I feel fine with it and, at the same time, i agree that it is immoral.

The day that all the pirate files will die, i will nod the head in a "That's just right" and i'll search another way to try the game.
Maybe i will discover that there are more people like me out there and we'll join in a "give us demo" request.
Is not a topic that i share so often, so i really don't know if someone else is using this trick to get a demo.

...I think it's not the way most people use this thing.

It's time to stop talking about piracy and pretending it's okay and not illegal and immoral and against the rules on this forum. Get back to talking about Rimworld or I can lock this topic if there's nothing more to say.

Is there much more to the update than that though? There was an age where the idea of a few new items of content was amazing, but I've kind of gotten to a point where an update has to be especially large or interesting to excite me. That's why the update notes for starbound or minecraft make me roll my eyes. It doesn't have to be a content explosion, but it does have to be something I've not seen in the game before. Bug fixes are nice, and new content is ok as long as their is a lot of it. New mechanics and concepts are fantastic. The issue with starbound was that I knew they were just going to rip out their content by the roots later. Looking at their 1.0 update, they appear to have ripped MOST of their content out and took a bunch of dirt with it. Minecraft has that idiotic snapshot system in place which means when a major number change occurs, it's basically just a fart in the wind since all the content they are announcing is already in the game and has been for the last year or several months.

Sorry if the complaining about other companies update shenanigans derails things. The TL:DR is, are drugs the only thing the next rimworld update will bring? If so, meh.

The updates have been this bad since release of early access, and the game has barely made any real progress since then honestly.
