Salem updates

Cheers, fellow salemites!

I've been playing this game since second wave of beta keys. Even now i still refresh the forums to see any update. Unfortunately, all communities i've been part of already left this game - i don't have anybody to ask: is this game still alive? Are there any updates to look forward?

The game is still alive but honestly somewhat stale. You can still find people looking for towns or others looking for people to join them. There have been some HUGE significant changes to the game within the last year.

You can find them in this thread.

Right now development is halted. I'm not sure what Marp is doing but JC is currently addressing IRL duties with his family and job. He dedicated quite a bit of time to this game over the last year. He is expected to be back sometime soon. With the expedition server ending in the near future there is a ton of great things to look forward to. Last time JC took a break he came back with some great updates.

I hear the expedition isn't that bad. It's a good way to get animals later on after darwoth wins.

Build up a character and then sell it to darwoth, or work on the ark. The expedition is also fun for going through peoples stuff. Claims with no silver in them don't proc braziers/torch posts, don't drain black bile, and you don't leave evidence of the crime while on the expedition server. It's like going through a derelict house out in the middle of the woods. You never know what you'll uncover in the gutted ruins of popham server.

Salem has turned into what it should have been when Paradox/Jorbtar was working on it. A smaller community based game that isn't full of people crying that they want it easier. The game has a much better feel to it now, and I'm sure that JC will come back with much to look forward too.

I haven't played the game in well over a year, and I was blown away with how much has changed. That alone reignited the addiction, and I look forward to what updates may come in the future :D
