Certainly a shotgun and a sniper rifle are two different animals depending on the range... for the automatics...ugh... I'm just not that up and up on all the small details.

Only fire-arm I can image playing with would be a barrel loaded shot gun. The up close, personal last resort weapon!

Too many variables/skill requirements for decent, ranged rifle shot unless you are assaulting something equivalent to a deer or less.

Two cents

yes one of the most accurate modern rifles in the world is wildly inaccurate frakked, what the hell are you talking about.

Pump action shotgun vs twin barrel vs rifle...

Which one would you opt for for a close encounter?!

And assuming the rules in Salem where fire-arm accuracy matters... which is most likely to score a hit regardless.

Pump-action shot gun is my favorite. More loads but only a single barrel meant for close range.

well i have not played planetside since release but i always preferred getting the big cargo airplane full of my own faction members then driving it into the ocean or flying around in a circle for 20 minutes while everyone raged at me.

That's strategy... I'm asking about real combat.

i would prob just use a regular high quality handgun to defend myself at close (10 - 20 feet) distance if inside my house as the longer options such as a shotgun are not as maneuverable and poking your head/limbs around a corner in that situation is how you get them shot off =P, in fact many of the homes where i grew up had a handgun or two around the house (usually in the bedroom and living room) and a shotgun next to the front door with the logic being the shotgun was for threats in your immediate front yard (be it human or more likely animal, black bears specifically) and the pistols were for inside the home.

at the age I could own a gun in Wilderness Alaska my threats were polar bear and 30 odd 6 was the rifle of choice. Talk about a KICK; and bruises!

Anyhow... if Salem produces a shot gun I'll gladly give up rifle in a heart-beat. I much prefer a gun with bleed and concussion vs a direct damage one.

Thanks

there is art for it in game for past several months, not sure how it will function as that depends on how much time JC has to fine tune it. i do not intend to radically change the pvp system even if JC would allow me to, i think the fundamental basics are good for the type of game salem is and nobody wants to relearn an entirely new game, JC and i pretty much see eye to eye on most things in terms of game design he just does not have time to test it out in the field with all of the stuff already on his plate. it is simply a matter of making a bunch of small tweaks along with relatively minor new stuff and more fully implementing existing systems (such as arson) to tie it all together.

in general if the stuff i am going to push for gets put in it will be entirely possible for a group of 50 stat newbs to defend their town from 1k+ titans, it will be equally possible for those 1k+ titans to obliterate that town without it taking a week to do if nobody defends the siege or does not mount an effective defense. there will be absolutely no excuse for anyone in salem to be a sheep the way people are currently and everyone will be able to take a more active role in ***** with each other.

Think we'll eventually get traps that aren't chests?
