yeah i just don't like the weight + reduced capacity, glocks are ugly and "plastic" ( ) but just on a different level of design evolution than the classic (and still great on account of being 105 year old design) stuff. think there is an old video somewhere of this dude dumping around 20k rounds through a glock over a period of time, without ever cleaning it and it didn't fail, even when the guide rod for the recoil spring broke in half

so eventually he started doing **** like storing it in a bucket of salt water and burying it in the ground but yep, cleaned it off and was still going =P

edit: video is in several parts but yeah watched some, he also threw it out of an airplane and shot it with a different gun. no problem!

So are we just taunting claeyt now that he can't push his opinions at us?

Jegus guys, you certainly know a lot about this modification stuff. I always considered the extra addons to be a bit like gaudy baubles unless they were in some way practical. Clearly there is more to it than that though.

Darwoth wrote:edit: my very first gun was a 1911 i built when i was like 12 - 13 or so with an auto ordnance parts kit and one of those L shaped screwdriver/punch combos  , family got me a stripped essex arms frame and i did the rest.

The 1911 is a noble tool. The safety is a bit too complex for my taste, but it is a fine and reliable firearm none the less. My preference in handgun is more in the range of the revolvers of any size. Their is something about them that I like which you just can't get feel of from a magazine fed handgun.

Just go find a machinist to make you the parts.
